What is CapMouse?
CapMouse is a free iOS app that turns speech into clear, large, real-time captions — right on your iPhone or iPad. It's built for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, so you can follow conversations, meetings, appointments, and everyday audio without anything leaving your device.
CapMouse also includes Dialogue mode for two-way conversations, Quick Phrases for fast responses, and on-device AI reply suggestions on supported devices (iOS 26+).

Frequently asked questions
Does CapMouse send my audio anywhere?
No. All speech recognition happens on your device using Apple's built-in frameworks. Audio is never recorded to disk or sent to any server — not Apple's, not ours, not anyone else's.
Do I need an account?
No. CapMouse has no accounts, no sign-in, and no cloud sync. Everything stays on your device.
Is CapMouse free?
Yes, CapMouse is completely free with no subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Why don't I see AI suggested replies in Dialogue mode?
AI reply suggestions require iOS 26 or later on a supported device (A17 Pro chip or newer / Apple Silicon). On older devices or iOS versions, Dialogue mode still works fully — just without suggested replies.
How do I delete my transcripts?
Open the History tab, swipe on any saved session, and delete it. Uninstalling CapMouse removes all saved transcripts permanently.
What languages does CapMouse support?
CapMouse supports any language available through your device's on-device speech recognition. You can change the language from the picker on the Transcribe screen.
